My Mentor, My Mom
I don't know how you did it
As a pre-teen I couldn't appreciate
All those years I acted out
Loving patience remained your best trait
I'm glad we grew close that year of school
The year you became my best friend whom I adore
I changed my ways and began to realize
You're the best mom I could ask for
Over the years you've taught me so much
How to be independent and take a chance
"Life's too short", you'll say, "do what you love"
I have you to thank for my privileged circumstance
You grabbed opportunities when you were my age
That lead you to the amazing life you have now
I can only hope my path is as successful
That I end up as kind and positive as you somehow
I have faith I will though
Because I have you as my mentor
A business woman and a mother
The best role model anyone could ask for
