My mentor

My mentor is my mom

She is kind and gentle but strong

I know that its cliche

But listen to what I have to say

She kept a roof over five heads

In the winter blankets piled up on the beds

We couldn't afford to eat, let alone to pay for heat

Everything freezing head, hands, and feet

But through it all she said "stay strong"

"Some day our day will come"

She showed me not to depend on a man

But to work and study hard while I can

I wish I could pay her back for all she's taught me

Some day I will just wait and see

My Mom is my mentor and I'll say it loud

Nothings gonna stop me from making her proud!
