My Mark On The World

When I look up at the stars and moon at night

I am reminded on Neil Armstrong

I don’t feel big because the stars and moon look tiny

I feel miniscule

The world is so gigantic, so vast

I am just one person in the sea of billions

We’ve called this place home since our birth

We have yet to discover all the secrets it holds sacred

Mountains caves people remain unnoticed

Don’t forget the oceans mermaids do exist

We are young

We are still learning

It hasn’t been long since man stepped foot on ground

That wasn’t mother earth

Our sights are limited

Like a new born baby who hasn’t left the hospital

We are amazed at the discovery that there is something outside of the womb

But can’t even fathom life outside of the room

The universe is infinite

And we as a whole are not even a speck of dust in the cosmos

But we think that we are everything

We put so much importance in what we look like

and what other people think of us

we invest our whole lives in it

what’s the reward

the only people that surround us

are trapped inside our mirrors

we are alienating ourselves in a world that’s already so big

but the more connections we make the smaller it becomes

I want the world the world to be small

Right now it’s too big to see

I’m like and ant staring at a mural

Only seeing part of the bigger picture

And wondering why I don’t understand

I want to explore to experience everything that life has to offer

I want to be the Christopher Columbus of this era

I want to discover “The New World”

Go where no man (or woman) has ever gone before

The stars are infinite and they give me hope

They look so perfect but they are still growing

This means I can still improve as well

My name is Chastity Lydia de Moors

I am small but I am powerful

Greatness flows through my veins

I am not even on the spectrum of importance in the world let alone the universe

But I have the potential to make change

The change that really matters

My heart is kind and I want my view to be skyward or

centered on the people around me

I am small but I matter to the people around me

I like to think that I make our world better place

even if my influence is microscopic

But one day I will change the world for the better

I want to make the world smaller

so I can finally see it
