My Fallen Brethren

Tue, 09/20/2016 - 12:31 -- SetikW8

I've done a lot of things

that'll chill you to the bone.

Ask all my former enemies,

whole lives portrayed on a single stone.

The only sign that they were loved,

withered flowers in a cone.

I just wish they knew I loved them

and that if they were still alive,

I'd give them all I own.

They are my fallen brethren;

I held them as their tears

ran down their cheeks.

I helped them all survive,

I made sure that they could eat.

I rocked them 'til their fears subsided

so that they could fine'ly sleep.

I still cry at night when I see all their faces,

as their blood pools at my feet.

It all replays in my mind at night,

in violent, scary dreams.

But in all the tragic endings,

I saw many a courageous feat.

And with their everlasting memory

the bonds of death they did cheat.

Forever in my heart and soul,

they really made me me.

I just hope they all forgive me

and feel as though I set them free.

So to all my fallen brethren

who lost their life to the unforgiving streets,

I hope you know I love you

and I pray you rest in peace.

I've done a lot of things

that'll chill you to the bone.

Ask all my fallen brethren,

whole lives written on a stone.

Buried 6FT under,

their deaths no longer can I condone.

I hope they know I loved them

and that if they were still alive,

I'd give them all I own.
