My Fall

In the darkness it shone
So bright and tempting
And my heart was full of desire
For this false light that led me away
Away
Away
So far away from what I needed
So I followed what I wanted
But I forgot about what I loved
So my heart filled with desire
And I was soon lost in the darkness

Finally as monstrous on the outside as I was on the inside.

No more could I look at my reflection
Without shrinking away in disgust
No more could I walk without a mask
Without seeing the people's terror
And I became what I had fought
I became a thing of the night
A story to scare the children
So I, who had once been a hero
Faded into myths as a monster
I would rise one day
Long in the future of this world
But would I rise as a monster or a man?
