My emotions are on display today

My emotions are on display today

Not trapped within the confines of my soul

But in the countless poems I’ve seen

Each a different stamp on my passport heart

Where the voices of unafraid poets whisper in my ears

And my father's hospital rooms bleed into symphonies of feelings

The Maestro still conducting long after the hall empties

Where a sense of belonging began and still lingers

Resonating deep within as I reach to the light

Reaching towards freedom and its’ glory

Glory which has been the base of so many writings

Immortalized within the determination to thrive

A feeling I have carried and kept close to remind myself

Through each new poem which has carved its place in my heart

That my emotions are on display today
