Thinking of others

Instead of just myself

Helping those in need

For the sake of their mental health

Is not just my dream job

But a dream within itself

Because the main focus will be on the people

Instead of material things and wealth

In a world full of hurt

People need a place to turn

Which is why I choose to be a Social Worker

To raise a voice of concern

But my dream job won’t come in a flash

Because I’ve got a lot to learn

Which is why I’m staying in school

To gain all the knowledge and experience I can earn

People will discourage me

From fulfilling my dreams

School will be stressful

And at times it may seem

As if my dream job is unreachable

And a little extreme

For someone so young

For someone like me

But with a good support group

I know I will find

The power and determination

To keep a positive state of mind

And by volunteering in my community

I can make better use of my time

Striving towards my dream job

Passing by those who doubted the mountains I could climb
