My Desire

An Excerpt from "The Writ" by Paul Gray

The moment that I saw thee
Did my heart not skip a beat
A time by love suspended
Warmed by passion's smitten heat

Like mist love's smoke hath risen
Choking out life's clearest sight
All that's left for me is thee
Your want is my delight

One kiss to sooth these lips I seek
To quench this loving fire
My passion burned with yearning
Saves my soul by love's desire

The moment that I saw thee
Did my heart not skip a beat
Unseen by wildest notion
Just to dream of love so sweet
