My dearest Melissa, on October 8th, 2012

Little did I know that I would be able to delve

Into the thoughts and mysteries of such a girl

That with every twist, spin and twirl

You could overwhelm my heart and soul

And send my head completely out of control

Six months you have been with me

And I have no clue why you can’t see

That you, my dear are leagues ahead

 And should be dating a movie star instead

You build me up all the day long

And act like I can do no wrong

When, in reality, it is you who steals the show

And the only cheering section I have is an annoying crow

I wish upon a wish that this poem touches that sweet, sweet heart

Because if it doesn’t, my own patched up heart will simply fall apart

Someday If I have money, I’ll buy you a star in the sky

So that If God forbid you ever have reason to cry

I can point to that star and say

That you have no reason to cry this day

 Because that star, no matter how bright

Will never compare with your beauty’s light

So take this poem from me today

And maybe read it when we are old and gray

And know that the love I have for you I will never shelve

Or forget the day of October 8, 2012
