My Antidote
Words my antidote to numb the senses except the emotion to feel
Depositing in the core of the heart of a weary nation to feel surging energies
Of passion, pain, confidence, or the fear of remaining the same
To activate the thoughts to reflect on the forgotten ones trying to crawl their way
To what seems like an invisible American dream
Like a silent vocal weapon to penetrate the spirits of the passer bys of the orphanage
Where the little orphan boy's delicate cries dissolve into the black blanket sky
As time slips away like fine sand seeps through that crack in the hour glass
The antidote for his pain love and hope
For the broken teen girl that survived human sex trafficing
An attempt to infuse positive energy into her world where her innocence and identity
Became buried in the streets
Her mind is bombarded with traumatizing images that plague her ability to embrace
the simplest thought that left somewhere on a corner good people do exist
Through her mental wounds, let words speak to her that she is beautiful and safe
The antidote for her is trust and support
Across every ghetto where young minority men feel it's the norm to feel left behind
Daddy's absence was like a magnetic force for local drug dealers and hustlers to
Be these lost youth mentors..rage floods inside his veins
Like a whole in the earth's crust, it's a deep hole that only a father's presence can mend
Poetry unravels the threads of their stories so people can feel the rough edges
The antidotes motivation, love, and a father figure
Poetry is my antidote for my own sanity and humanity
My pen is my microphone and my words give a sound and meaning to both tangible
Intangible elements
Poetry my antidote to deal with life
