Muted Sounds

Wed, 08/20/2014 - 15:30 -- mitzian

One sound is heard while another is muted

He who hears is smart, he who listens is wise

Who hears me if I’m secluded?

Stories danced and stories told

But my story is only muted

What is there to say when you’ve been controlled?

Words are monitored and censored

Sounds are shady and indistinct

How do I communicate when what you hear is edited?

The deaf listen with the heart

People listen with their brains

I listen to keep in part

Advocates claim a voice for others

The voiceless, want a voice of their own

My voice writes to avoid the stutters

I buried my sound up in space

One sound restless, another hanging with tremor

My muted sounds are my only solace
