Mother of Her Child
She is the mother of her child...
A mother in this lost society
In a world alone with a child of her own
The baby she birthed into the world
Of propriety-
And what was the American Dream before
Because all her life she has been struggling,
Tussling and hustling don't make ends meet
Anymore-
There's another mouth to feed
And it devours by the hours for charity
Quicker than WIC, SNAP, and Medicaid's
In need-
A mother like you
Is strong, so smile,
After all you are
The mother for true
Of her own child.
