Mother

If I were lost on an island

Stranded all alone

I would not ask for food

Or even my phone

I would ask for my mother

Because she’s all I need.

My mother’s always there

When I cry or I bleed.

My mother is with me

Through thick and through thin,

She’s been my best friend,

She’s more than just kin.

Not only does she work

To provide me my meals,

She’s there when I’m down

With life at my heels.

She’s been my caretaker,

My most trusted friend.

She will stay there with me

Up until the end.

If I must choose one thing

That I truly do need,

I would ask for my mother-

For her only I’d plead.
