To Mother (12/25/15)

I never knew the soft caress of a mother’s hand

Because yours were cold and rough, rather

I learned early, the warm embrace of a mother’s heart

From which soft tenderness extends to the hand

And fills me with God-like love.

If you are looking to find God in this world

Look at your mother. For God gives to Mothers

Healing powers, infinite love, and children.

Her children are a mother’s world.

God is in the children.

Only the most courageous can be a mother.

She faces the onslaught of evils with a

Heated glare. Sheltering her innocent children with

An outstretched arm –

-- You cannot have them! –

All good mothers were once dearly loved children.
