The Mosquito

To us it seems like nothing more

Than just a little pest

But you should know

Before you go

It's not like all the rest

Whatever you have thought before

Put it out of mind

And watch and wait

For you're the bait

To lure out its kind

With tiny head and pointed snout

That sucks its food inside

This little beast

Prepared to feast

Hangs out where you reside

That it's annoying no one doubts

But look beyond the sting

With six long legs

Like tiny pegs

And long transparent wings

We draw back quickly at the sound

When buzzing things are near

But please just wait

Before you hate

Listen, then you'll hear

The little noise, oh so profound

Will make you stop and smile

That a thing so small

Could make you fall

In love with songs thought vile

Such detailed work no one can match

Is poured into our friend

Beneath the dirt

And mild hurt

Lies beauty without end

If you look close beyond the mask

Of what some may call "ugg"

Then you will see

As clear as tea

The beauty in this bug ~
