In a moment

“I didn’t know a simple gift could do all that…” Her thoughts reverberated through deep tunnels in her mind as she studied the smiling creases of his laughter. He had been quite anxious to discover the truth of the gift as soon as it was given, and when unveiled, his expression proved well-worth the search. It had been so long since she had seen him wear that smile; she’d forgotten how she missed its look. This was a smile of sincerest gratitude, of genuine compassion, of happiness. It had been so long since they’d felt happiness. He turned his head to her with a brief twinkle in his eyes, “Thank you.”
