A Moment
Remember, think, of previous years.
Nostalgia
Careless imaginings,
Games from your childhood
When your brother overdosed and died
One sudden moment
And it all returns without fully ever returning.
That spot on the couch we would fight over,
Her grandmother passed away-- to a better place I'm told.
I remember the previous years
Snow getting in boots, warm days, lemonade.
Why is everything good gone?
At the same time the bad is gone too
Missing
A last hug to be given, a final smile
But it left its mark.
It did.
It imprinted on the world.
Lingering
My grandfather's prickly beard brushing my cheek
A goodbye embrace.
The soft blanket you carried around with you--everywhere.
Left forever
But everywhere
Sudden, but lasting.
To think
All in our past was once in our future.
Is our future dead?
Beat or gone.
I say, our future may live on.
It lingers.
One moment is gone.
