The Modern Family

Location

Even the first families had their secrets,

But not like the secrets today.

The American family is dying,

And so are the American ways.

Family is not always family;

Undesirable members go unclaimed.

When there's no room for personal gain,

Everyone steps away.

Mothers do no feel loved.

Underappreciated, they cry for help.

When no one seems to care,

They end their life with death.

Fathers don't get respect.

They try to enforce it with abuse.

If their family still won't respect them,

They turn to drugs and booze.

Many children are neglected.

Attention seekers are always despised.

No matter how children behave,

It is up to themselves to survive.

Granted I've been the exception.

My family is pretty grand.

I've never felt unaccepted

Or experienced neglect.

But I'm tired of seeing broken homes;

Wiping the tears from my friends' eyes.

Have you ever attempted to encourage someone to be something,

When they've been told all their life not to try?

These kids don't feel loved.

They don't know what love is.

I'm tired of living in a world

Where broken homes raise broken kids.
