The Mind-Soul

Location

“Language is a window into the mind”

Steven Pinker,

Harvard Professor

Accurately described language

using the symbols of words

Words

Things that could

never exactly describe what

resides in my soul

I know

I know he said mind

but my soul is so damn stubborn

that it refuses to let the mind

reason,

so let’s just say that

they have become

the same

The mind and the soul,

it’s true.

You reside in my soul.

And words will not describe the house

in which you dwell within

the mind

the soul

same difference

because

they’ve become the same,

remember?

Your dwelling is large

There are places that will

never be clean
A spot that will not

lift off of the sofa

that I

insisted you buy

A fridge

that is full

but empty

How do you always manage

to come back with things that

we don’t need?

Then, there’s that TV

that covers that spot

that I forgot to double coat

with that beautiful

orangish color

that now sits on the wall

It looks a mess

crimson red streaked with our pretty

orangish color

so I bought the TV

ad someone put it on the wall

So I didn’t have to

be reminded of my mistake

I wonder if you even

notice it anymore

Then the shutters

and siding

is starting to look a little dirty

Dirty because why

power wash

When the rain can do the job

Sloppily, but it cleans it

Nonetheless

I allow you to live in that

dirty, looks clean, but not quite clean dwelling

that I originally hadn’t even built for you

The dwelling that I furnished

because you lost interest in furnishing it

Just like you lost interest in me

But you stayed

because “It’s all about the benefits, baby!”

And I did not want to be deserted again

Not again.

I’ve put too much in this

dirty, looks clean, but not quite clean

dwelling to

tear it down now.

No matter how much space you and it may take up.

So,

when someone asks about you

all I will say is,

“We’re doing great!”,

“He’s just dandy”,

“He’s so sweet. He brought me flowers to work today”

and no one will ever know that our

relationship?

partnership?

beneficial-to-both-of-us-ship?

is nothing more

than me not being lonely

and you getting

whatever you feel the need to ask for

Because words

Words

are only a window into  my

mind

soul

same difference

Either way,

you take up

waaay too much space

in both of them,

my dear.
