The Mind of a Nomad

I am a modern day nomad,

Constantly searching

For something

A connection

To the world,

To the people,

To the universe.

I wasn’t born with innate talent,

But I don’t like to settle

In any field.

I believe I can be

Anything, and anywhere,

One day I’ll get there.

I feel no sense of belonging

I’m on the outside

I watch,

I observe,

I imagine.

Sometimes, I wonder

What it’s like to feel the warmth again

Of a home,

Of a place,

Of a family.

But I know it’s too late

My mind has already been converted

To the thoughts of a nomad.

I’m in love with

The idea of being a mystery

The unattainable,

The independent,

The elusive.

Even those who are close,

Will never truly be near.

Sometimes I am drawn

To those that also seem to be on the outside,

But I know we will never be able to unite

For we are nomadic by nature.

We are not meant to have each other.
