Milky and Sweet
I like my coffee milky and sweet.
No bitterness. No darkness.
I like how the creamy milk
Swims in the coffee.
And I like how the sugar
Disappears instantaneously.
I like my coffee milky and sweet
So it's pleasant enough
To soothe my palette.
I don't drink it to stay sane
Or to stay awake.
I drink to enjoy. I drink for pleasure.
I drink for the journey
Not for the results.
I like my coffee milky and sweet
To sweeten my day
And brighten my nights
Warm or icy, I don't mind
At least when I'm alone
It's just my mug, my creamer, my sugar,
and I.
