A Message to My Dad

You started my story with no intention of finishing it.

Narcissism engraved my heart with lies.

Those lies flooded my eyes full of tears—they dance at night.

It is said that anger is the mistake you forever regret,

But no regret came from foul language expressed by your tongue.

Yet, your voice embodies the sound of angered lions

And the strength of your dictionary throws weight onto my chest.

Master of ventriloquism.

You spoke my eulogy without opening your lips.

Everyone cheers despite the lack of words.

And the crowd forces me into the dark.

I got lost in the depths of the oceans,

In the beauty of perilous attractions,

But I didn’t fly off into the deep end,

You drowned me until I sank.
