the Mask that Grins

Location

We wear the mask that grins,

A world of smiles,

A world of sins,

Children dying,

Mother's crying,

Grin, we grin.

Dreams shattered,

Souls scattered,

Grin, we grin.

Smiling through the pain,

The war,

The suffering.

The mask hides our faces,

But eyes still see

And ears still hear.

Listen to the screams and cries,

The children dying,

The mothers crying,

Listen to the sound of broken dreams,

Fallen angels,

Lost wings.

Remove the mask!

Take it off, off

The mask has been on too long.

It won’t come off.

We smile still, forever smiling.

We wear the mask that grins,

A world of smiles,

A world of sins.
