Manifesto about Literature
Location
As a writer the word “literature” has an ever-changing definition.
It could mean empowerment through words, knowledge through text, or expression through creativity. No, literature is not cut and dry. It does not categorize, simply, as Faulkner, Dickens, Tennyson, or Browning. It is not an over sized anthology, a three page long sentence, and it certainly is not a waste of time. Much like any art, writing and literature should not conform to its present social standing. We, as artists, should create with pride, should move the people through our works. As a writer, I will not conform to any set standard. I will not write with constrictions, but with freedom. I do not fear the things that others turn away from, the things that others believe should never be said.
I will say them.
