Manacles of Edification

Desks in rows

Children file in

Classrooms filled with the stagnant scent of yester year policy

Each child

Head down

Pencil rhythms create the soundtrack of stale curricula

Children in ranks

Children in files

Like factory workers of the educational system

Schools breeding production workers for a world who no longer needs them

Same motions

Same results

Different expectations

Teachers torn

Between love and

Survival

Protesters advocate change

But the cries are silenced

By corporate influences

Young children starry eyed and rosy cheeked

Thirsty to be quenched by the fountain of knowledge they expect

Jaded youth sullen faced and bony fingered

Shoved into an educational waterhole

They will drown themselves in debt

And destroy their passion for wisdom
