The Man I Killed

I let him sink.

Down to the bottom of the ocean

went my man.

I can still see his hands

The ones I held day and night,

wrapped them around my face

wrapped them around my pretty little waist.

Big ole' giant was a softie till he hit me.

And the world started spinning.

Every moment, every second

I was fearin' for my life.

I could feel the walls closing in

Those hands,

They were my cage.

I no longer wished to sing a pretty song

Little Larkie wanted to grow up big and strong.

So I let him sink.

To the bottom of the ocean

went all his money,

and that pretty little wife

I knew so well.

She hit first, with her perfect hair

She hit first, wife of the year.

And it took God almighty to help me stand

as the water ran red.

I died

watching him go down

I died

waiting for him to come back up

I died

when the breeze whispered: "What have you done?"

But I was born

when I turned away

I was born

when I didn't stay.
