The Makings of Us

I feel good

In these simple, domestic

Moments of peace

When I feel your lungs

Collapse and unfurl

As I lay on your chest

As you, I

Take in the scent

Of our comfort

I feel good

As your arms wrap around me

As you

Fill my arteries with warmth

Existing in the room

With your presence

Makes me feel calm

And good

Yet, I still feel good

When I live

With your absence

As I bask in the thoughts

That linger in my mind

Of you and me

Of us

Of our all consuming love

This, just makes me

Feel oh so good
