Love's Confinement

Fri, 05/17/2019 - 11:01 -- cannear

When you’re young, we’re told to respect and listen to other

The “treat others how you want to be treated”

Left alone in my room I sat staring at the wall

Reflection and recollections passing through my mind

Why couldn’t he see what he was doing to me?

Pain and suffering was enough for one

But coming from someone you thought was the one?

The screen flashed white with his name, like the searing anger through his veins

He changed

When we were younger our elder taught us the meaning of love

How could he say he did when I proved him wrong?

All those girls, those lies, those heated fights

He used me from the start and I begun to flight

Trying to break free from his constricting hold

The deep settled pain he took grasp on

Why couldn’t he go and why hold on?

Until one day another made me see the light

And taught me what true love felt like

The sweet love and tender touch

Made the past abuse felt like it was nothing, but a much distant memory

Oh sweet child listen to me

Run from the grasps of evil love’s confinement

And be free.
