Love me/Love me not

June 29, 2016 3:33 PM

Flowers were the key to my heart
In which you knew
And gave everyday
As a young child
The game of
Love me/Love me not
Filled the minds
Of the innocent
And how hopeful
Their little love was.
I wonder if you knew the trick
The trick of picking flowers
With odd number of petals
So afterwards
I would know
That you love me
Instead of not.
I was always hopeful
Of our love.

You're gone now
And I wonder if you know
I still have all the flowers
And every night
Has consisted of
The picking of flower petals
And repeating
"He loves me"
"He loves me not"
"He loves me".
I picked the last of the flowers
The ones you said were special
Because they were my favorite
The number was 200 petals total
And my night ended with
"He loves me not”.
