I don't expect you to understand
What I mean when I say that I love her.
You don't know what love is.
You know your Pantene and your Maybeline,
You know what you were modeled to be.

I have no mold.
I free-formed my entirety and look where it landed me.
An outcast,
Socially humiliated by your abuse of my sexuality.
'Gay' does not mean stupid.
'Dyke' is not a funny word.
'Queer' is as emotionally damaging as 'slut'.

Love is not something that you can control
It's not something that you have a say in.
You can't wake up in the morning and decide you love someone.
You wake up in the morning and realize you hate being without them.
It doesn't matter who they are, it isn't up to you.
Whether they're male, female, or your sister's best friend.
Love is love.

And your abuse of our love is agonizing.
It kills us inside,
And it's been known to kill us on the out.
How does it feel to hold a soul in your hand and squeeze until it shatters?
Does the dust coat your hands when you're done? Do you wipe your hands of it,
The way you do everything else you don't understand?
Is our heartache like pixie dust? Does it make you soar above the night?

Do you see all the faces of the lost boys and girls, who were on the wrong end of your 'jokes'?
Do you see the pain that they feel written on their faces? You take our insecurities, and shape them into stereotypes.
You put us all in the same category, and fill us with hate.

And someday, we hope you'll grow up.
Because Love is love.
And your lack of it kills us.
