A love letter to San Francisco
You take my breath away, my dear
No one else has managed such a feat
I am not easily impressed, yet my jaw is in your ocean
Never have I felt so apart of a story, a place so full of interconnected webs
How can I ever properly share the depth of my feelings
So much has been said before, but still not enough
Nevertheless, I hope you can feel my love and admiration seep through this page
Of course it is easy to love the magnificent red arches of the golden welcome committee
Or the bright homes lining the uniquely fun and thin streets
Or the amount of culture and history somehow crammed into 46 square meters
It is not as easy to love the smell of smoke, weed, piss that just seem to linger
Or the abandoned people and abandoned things, a product of the corporations and the greed
Or the grime that just seems to be everywhere just waiting for someone to care
I somehow love all of it
Because I care
Because I won’t forget
Because I won’t abandon the people and things that make my love the way she is
Because I know who she was
Because I know who she is
Because I know what she can be
I love you, my dear
Please do not give up
For I have not given up on you
I will be there soon, my love
I will be there soon,
My love
