Love On
Location
I know you’re tired and weary,
So lonely from the journey
Across the folded lands
Because you longed for someone’s hands.
But if you had not gone,
If I hadn’t tagged along,
Would we see the same mountains,
Obscured by our curtains?
You loved enough for both of us,
I loved too much to give you up,
A mirage gave me a dream,
For a better scene,
And I strayed from the path,
Despite your accurate math.
Once I left there was no returning,
I looked around to see bridges burning,
And among the rubble I saw your face,
Stained with tears that dirt erased,
But in your eyes I saw the affection,
That your salty words had failed to mention.
Continue on without me,
Pass your love onto one more worthy,
I’ll find my way from here on out,
You’ll find your heart; I have no doubts.
