Losing

Harder and harder my temperament fought

Until it fell still in the night

Sadder and sadder my heart had become

Relinquishing the fight

Freedom from this world of ours

Is wanted but not sought

To time travel through better days,

I act as I forgot

I’m trapped inside this bolted cage

But scared of what’s beyond

I spit what’s real, I swallow lies

Of which I’ve grown quite fond

Knowing full well what’s right and true

I shun my loving God

Looking at Him with hope for me

He’ll bless the path I trod

Looking at Him with fear for me

For what I have become

I hope that I will never see

The good that I’ve undone

Guide that inspired this poem:
