LIVING WITH AIDS

She walked down the street

As men glanced at her behind

A pair of fine fresh juicy melon

That caused commotion in town

As vendors and customers struggled

To satisfy their eyes

But none could tell

That its seeds were poisonous

And could stitch any mouth

That tried to eat of it

I saw a curious Mercedes Benz

Parking to give her lift

Like a fly that had landed on faeces

Ready to enjoy its feast

And go infect other meals.

But when the hyena finished its share

The world had come to an end

It cried day and night

As the city watched and wondered

For none knew it had been infected with AIDS

I saw him lie lifeless on his bed

His skeleton struggling for breathe

As he took his ARVs

Vomiting purse and blood from his mouth

Sending friends to his bank account

Hid four-wheel parked behind in his garage

For his money couldn’t buy him life

The ground anxiously waited

To swallow his rotten ribs

For his greed had parented his end.
