Living On

I started as a thought

A wish of what could be

And to become what I am now

I chose to live for me

I’m an X straight across

A bouncing baby girl

With lofty hopes and dreams

Wings aching to be free

As I gained experience

The ‘can’t’ of life crept in

With ‘nos’ and ‘impossibles’

Roadblocks on possibilities

The years fall forward, time goes on

And secrets come unveiled

For each step up, take three more back

As I unlearn what was once was fact

The world as your audience

With my face as the prop

My wings wrapped in chains

‘Can nots’ dragging me down

Age is a number

That means little in life

Chip at a link, fall one at a time

For one day soon, I will fly
