Little Hands

Little hands clasped together on their desks.

Eager to listen, to absorb, to learn.

Little hands raised high in the ar.

Eager to respond, to show, to tell.

Little hands write what they know.

Eager to inform, to persuade, to affect.

Little hands draw.

Eager to imagine, to create, to express.

Little hands reached out to others.

Eager to meet, to help, to change.

Little hands held.

Eager to unify, to comfort, to love.

Little hands grow.

Eager to lead, to teach, to inspire.

Little hands, the lines carved through learning.

A cycle, teacher to student.

The little hands have power to destroy or to construct.

I want to help carve the hands.

Not to scar them, but to nurture them.

Because when you help the little hands,

They know how to help you back.

How to help everyone.

How to change lives.
