Little Brother

I know we haven’t talked, but I have to say this.

I’m about to stop you from falling into an abyss

In which lies poverty, obscurity, every kind of hell.

It’s crucial that you hear this, so listen well.

I heard you’re freshman year isn’t all that great.

Your grades aren’t the best, and your teachers really hate

You. But you say you’re the most popular? Don’t be so smug.

All you’re turning into is another low life thug.

No brother of mine is going down that way.

I’m not letting you fall out and be left astray.

You’re worth more than that. You’re being dragged down

By your “friends”. If I leave you, you will drown.

You’re defending them? Really!? Look what they’ve done!

They took your character and they blew it to Kingdom Come!

You’re losing it. Swinging way out of control.

Don’t give yourself up to them. Do NOT sell your soul!

WILL YOU TRY TO UNDERSTAND? I’m the last one left who cares!

No one else is going to get involved and help you make repairs

To your life, our parents are gone, your girlfriend will never get it!

I am your older brother! I am not allowed to quit!

Once again, you go on how I’m this know-it-all, genius, family business heir.

The good child, college boy, but this is only the very top layer.

For most of high school, I took my life’s biggest drop.

It would be a long time later before I’d rise to the top.

I slacked off in high school, lost respect, and paid double the price

For everything I screwed up on, got stuck in my own vice.

Come end of junior year, I bounced back, showed what I could do.

Proved my value, started creating the future, so why can’t you?

You’re just as smart as I am, but your will is too small.

Connections just as good as mine, but company is not good at all.

You’re as creative as me, but you won’t let it show.

Intelligence without diligence, you are your own biggest foe.

I found my talents, passions and skills, and I capitalised

On those, and made a new me: fully optimised

And geared to work around the clock to make the perfect life mine.

Now, why don’t you make a world in your own design?

I know I’m harder on you than anyone ever is.

But I want to make sure it’s true when I tell you: you got this.

I’ll always make sure that you live up to your true worth.

Now come on, little brother. Let’s transform this Earth.
