Little Black Girl

Dear Little Black Girl that desires to be me.

I want you to grow up and chase your own dreams.

Don't follow my footsteps, don't do as I do.

Create your own path and be you.

Though the world will hurt you down with riches and fame, don't change yourself cause you want everyone to know your name.

Stay in the books and hold on tight, because your future looks very bright.

So dear little black girl don't be like me;

Because I wanna see you chase your own dreams.
