Listen to Your Heart

I thought New York was the place for me.
I always thought big cities were for me.
I thought that I would get to New York
And instantly fall in love.

This did not happen.

Instead, New York looked me in the eyes
And raped my soul.
I realize now that New York isn't the place for me.
My body has constantly been telling me to explore the deep.

Why? So I can drown?

I now understand that my body wasn't telling me my place,
It was telling me where I need to be now.
I finally understand the importance of listening to your heart
In the wise words of Pocahontas,

"If you walk in the footsteps of a stranger,
you'll find out things you never knew you never knew."
