Lights, Camera, ACTION!

Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain

But this is my story so Im going to show a different version

What if that person behind the curtain could hide all your pain

And in return it was a smile you gained.

Would it be okay for you to acknowledge them then

Would you go so far as to try and call them a friend

So I turn off the light and choose to take the stage

And thats when I took my name and gave it a change.

From Marissa to Lyrical I didn't give it much thought

It just help me deal with the feelings I constantly fought

The feelings that were tearing me inside out

I could get in front of millions and stop filling my head with doubts

Talk about how many cuts at one point I had on my body.

Guess at one point that was my hobby.

Its been 5 years since cuts have been placed on my skin

But it doesn't mean in 5 years my heart could mend.

My pencil and paper are now my tools

God gave me something that heals and that I can use.

Lights, camera action and I know its showtime

So I perform who I really am every time in my rhymes

The stage gave me comfort and kept me alive

So my goal is to use the curtain instead of tossing it aside

Yes I can admit that the curtain was where I once would hide

I have to admit it was once a beautiful disguise

But its more fun to come to the surface and be informing

Channeling all my heart and soul into performing

To teach people that you don't have to take down the curtain

Just use it to show the world you have a gift for certain.

So sit back and smile and enjoy what comes when the curtains lift

And clap your hands to the beat as I share my gift.
