Lightning and Thunder

My voice resembles lightning

You can see it and it fears some

But get close enough and all gets fearsome

No one wants to be struck by my electric speech

The world’s perspective, it is one in a million

Nothing special about it

But it has a level of consciousness and I can no longer hide it

Small but it can get louder

The world storms out thunder and it’s impossible not to hear

My voice can make a difference

I just need to start somewhere

I can talk all I want but it’s just words if no one can hear it

I need to be loud

I need to let my thunder roar

I need to be as loud as the gunshots that kills black boys

That kills students in their elements to learn, to relax

Those gunshots that aims to commit hate crimes and murder anyone that does not fit the supremacist’ mold

I need to be loud

For dreamers fighting for their education

“Immigrants” fighting to stay in the only place they know as home and those who are still waiting to be reunited with their children

I need to be loud

For every woman who owns her body and will not let it be a misogynistic politician’s property

For the LGBTQ community who are still fighting for recognition, fighting for their rights

I need to be loud because being silent is not fighting the good fight

Act as lightning and speak as thunder

We all need to do this, so we can end the reign of terror America is under

In this era they are trying to reinstall fear

But we are reclaiming our time, our lives, our rights

So the hateful, racist, homophobic voices we choose not to hear

Our world
