The Light, the Life and the Way

The door slams closed,
The lock is tight.
Darkness envelops me.
I reach for the light
Which I know is there...
Somewhere.

I grope and I question
Was there ever a reason I'm here?

A sparkle
Floats down gently.

"This," I seemed to hear,
"This is why you're here."
A thought so gentle,
So quiet and mild-
"Right now," it said,
"You're here to trust
In Me."

A drop of water
Glistens
As it falls to my feet.
And then I know.
My source of light is above.
I turn my face upwards.

A skylight,
Open and inviting.
Stars twinkle through the crack.
Raindrops pat it softly.

No moon yet,
But before me hangs the Way:
A rope to climb-
Oh, hope sublime!
Before the light of Day.
