The Light During My Darkness

You brought me into this world.

It took you nine whole months to make me into a little girl.

You took my hand and held it close.

Time continued to pass and I continued to grow.

You wear your heart on your sleeve.

Always so kind and sweet.

Hard work is what you maintain.

"Nothing is ever handed to you. You need to work for it."

Those words of yours have been engraved into my soul.

It is something I'll live by until I am grey and old.

You've worked hard all your life,

to try and have a little happy life.

Its been tough on you,

that is not a lie.

You have been through the worst and still face battles on your own.

You've had a hard life but you'll never be alone

Your heart stays pure and shines of gold.

You never give up,

you always stay bold.

Head held high with only happiness to show.

I hope to be close to the human being you are.

There is no one that can compare to you.

I will always be your little girl, no matter where I go

Because as they say, "home is where the heart is"

and you are my home.

Thank yous cannot express my gratitude for you,

But here you go.

For showing me you don't need a man.

For educating me to be the best version of myself.

For teaching me to reach for the stars.

For helping me realize me anything is possible.

For reminding me to love myself.

For believing in me when no one else did.

For being my other half.

But most importantly, thank you for being you.

Without you I would have never been able to advance.

You were the light in my darkness.

Now,

Because of you,

I now know how to shine on my own.

I love you Mom.
