Life Isn't Easy

Life isn’t easy

Sometimes it makes us queasy

We say we’re alright

But we won’t be tonight

When we cry ourselves to sleep

Not making a peep

‘Cause we’re scared that if we’re heard

That people will think we’re absurd

But we can’t stop the tears from flowing

From going

‘Cause life isn’t easy

Sometimes it makes us queasy

And it’s hard to be strong

When everything is going wrong

You’ve got to find the way

To make it through the day

‘Cause your life has just begun

And it’s no time to run

From the present or the past

‘Cause the pain won’t last

And I promise you this

That you’ll someday find bliss

If you just be content with what you’ve got

And thankful that you’re not

Already dead

A rotten brain in your head

Life is not easy

And yeah, it makes us queasy

But we all have the chance

To come take a stance

Against hate

Against the fate

That comes from being silent

From letting your brother be violent

We could belong to Sheol

And be dragged down by the heel

Or we can keep on living

And use the gifts God’s giving

But of course it’s your choice

To stay silent or raise your voice

Life may not be easy

But we can make it breezy

We can go up in glory

And tell our own story

Stray away from the ugly history

Raise our hands in victory

I want to shout out with love

Spread my wings like a dove

They carry peace on the wings

And the song each one sings

Is one of triumph and might

Second chances and light

That is where I belong

That’s where I’ll find my song

I’ll be carried by the winds and fly

And I will wake to face the skies

I’ll put God’s glory before me

And I’ll live to tell a new story

Will you dwell in this hell

Or find a better story to tell?
