What inspires means the promise of a life better than the one I currently have.

The knowledge that people like me hold the life that I want so bad.

See, I don't need to be rich, I don't need to be famous, I don't need fast cars and fancy stars on the boulevard

What I need, what I want, what I yearn for …

is to be secure

 

Think about it

Think about what it is to be a kid 

Not doing kid things because you worry about the bills 

You live in fear not knowing it you're going to be without a home in the months to come 

On your way home you wonder if you have to sit in the dark tonight because there wasn't enough money for the light 

Some nights you don't eat because the breadwinner doesn't make enough for dinner

 

Through it all you stand tall

You do your best not to complain 

You can't blame her because she's doing her best of what she has

Before you know it you're a little adult cooking for yourself

 Helping yourself with homework

 Washing and doing your own hair 

Navigating the world on your own

 Learning that this place can cause nightmares 

 

My life is what inspires me 

It's not a movie or a book 

But it took a lot to get through it

 It has shown me all that I want out of life and for my future kid's life because it was the opposite
