I stared at a clock on the wall
Willing it to tick faster so the dreaded first day of school can end
Then I looked down at the watch on my wrist
The two clocks read different times
And I thought, "one clock is living a lie"
But a fragment of our imaginations can not be held responsible for lying
Yet our lives are run on lies
We schedule our day on hours that pass but do not truly exist
We believe we are suppose to be something that made up standards set for us
We sit in a desk for 8 hours because that's somehow the only way we'll make it in life
We follow rules that we do not question because a big invisible figure set them there before us
The world is living out there while we stare at a chalkboard
Why are we here
I love being outside in the sun and feel the earth breathe on my neck
I do not like sitting in dim lighted class listening to the world's equations
I love writing about my thoughts and passions
I do not like changing what I believe to please a teacher's question
Why are we here
Humans are always searching for ways to create order and purpose in a world that once needed none
The world needed love and attention
Not an understanding of it and all that it holds
We have the audacity to believe that we can understand the world and control what we do with it
That is the biggest lie be live
