Letting Go

Location

Pain is overrated

At least that's what I said

When she claimed she'd've never known

What true pain was

If he had stayed

Lies can protect

At least that's what I said

When she found out the truth

In a cold white room

Under sterilized sheets

Tears are made for crocodiles

At least that's what I said

When her skin turned pale

And he made her a promise

While shedding golden tears

Promises can be broken

At least that's what I said

When he burned the noose

And buried the metal

As she took her last breath

Love doesn't exist

At least that's what I said

When I took my last breath

And he promised me he'd leave

Because if he had stayed

I would have never let go
