A Letter to The Old Me

To the girl I once was:

You are missing from the person

I am now,

like a

mermaid

too far from sea.

Why cant you come back?

You are happy and see the beauty

in anything that crosses your gaze.

Although I still see the beauty,

it's not as easy to see as it once was.

Maybe I'm going blind.

I know you cannot return from your travels

and all I'm asking

is that

you let me in

on your little secret,

on how to be happy

so effortlessly.

Sincerely,

The girl I am without you
