A Letter to the Ignorant

I guess the objective was to make me feel guilty.
But see, there's the problem.
I'm a person, not a project.
And I've done nothing wrong.
I did not lie to you,
Nor ignore you,
I didn't venture to blame you for something you hadn't done.
Heaven forbid it be so....
You could not handle the pain dealt to me
You did it all;
It's all my fault--
There's a riddle for the ages!
You don't even know how much you've hurt me.
You cannot recognize your own crimes.
I'm not surprised.
In your world, the innocent are locked away,
Never acknowledged,
Spoken of,
Or looked in the eye again.
For once in my life, I took care of myself.
And you would have me never do it again.
So yes,
I'm mad. Sad. Emotionally worn
TO THE BONE,
But I will never, ever feel guilty.
I guess you'll have to lose
