Let them be the talkers,

The ones who only hear themselves

Never listening to the world that hums

With the song of happiness and love.

I would rather be the singer,

Letting words that are often ignored dance through the air.

Dreams and tales of love flying out of the radios

A smile of all who hear the beat of my heart

The ideas spring to life as the words of power are released.

Let them be popular,

Not because they are kind,

But because they play a sport.

They ignore the lives that pass them by;

Turning a blind eye to their neighbor.

I would rather be the reject,

Filled with life and love for those who surround me.

Dancing in the shadows smiling like there is no tomorrow.

Dreaming about changing lives and wishing to become better.

Never selfish and always understanding.

Let them walk in rows and crowds,

For that is all they will ever know.

Never shall they leave the paved paths,

Never will they open their eyes to a world.

A world that is bigger than all of them.

I would rather walk on broken glass.

To struggle alone and understand the pain of achievement.

Feeling freedom in my veins

The wind tearing at my clothes and hair

The fear of the unknown

The happiness of new things.

I would rather be me.
